SCHOOL CHEERLEADING!

Pros and Cons of Nike cheerleading shoes
The HTMS cheerleaders tried on the Nike cheerleading shoes at practice after school in Mrs. Booker’s trailer. The cheerleaders are required to wear the shoe the coaches pick so they tried them on to see what size would fit them, for the new shoe. Most cheerleaders said they did not like the Nike shoes and prefer Nfinitys.
Some of the pros of the Nikes are that they will not get destroyed on the track at football games, they will not tear up on the cement when they practice outside. They are nice shoes, with a good soul to them.
Some cons of the Nikes are that they do not have an arch support for you foot, and when you don’t have an arch support your arch can fall out of your foot, with all the complex stuff you do for cheerleading. They are not flexible/bendy which makes it hard to point your toes when jumping, stretching, and tumbling. That is why cheerleaders prefer Nfinitys.

Calling all new cheerleaders
Most new cheerleaders might think school cheerleading is laid back and fun. Think again. Cheerleading is practice, practice, practice. Then don’t even think about messing up or slaking, because you’ll be running nonstop!
Don’t think you won’t have any fun though. You do have a lot of fun at camp even though it is tiring. During the summertime, they have a lot of swim parties. They crack up with each other and just make the worst practices fun!
The cheerleaders are going to have an awesome year. The competition squad is going to be amazing. At football games when all forty cheerleaders are there it will be extremely intimidating! They are going to be loud and have a ton of fun!

Cheerleading not a sport?
At HTMS cheerleading is not considered an athletic sport. Cheerleaders are fantastic athletes and deserve much better than to be tossed around like nothing. Do you think cheerleading is a sport?
At football games a cheerleader is responsible for their own ride to the game, they are not allowed to ride the school bus to the game, because there not an athletic sport!
For cheerleading they don’t even have a practice spot. Cheerleaders don’t practice in a gym; they practice in the hitting room at the old Jr. High, or outside. There is not enough room in the hitting room for all the mats that they use. It could be a safety issue if a flyer was to fall out of a stunt on to the hard hitting room floor, the girl could get seriously hurt. At outside practices if they take all nine mats outside, which is a hard job and it takes up a large amount of time of their practice, the mats get all dirty. If they practice outside the grass is slippery most of the time and yet another safety issue, for example: if the cheerleaders are running, tumbling, jumping, or even stunting they could easily fall. This already happened.
The cheerleaders deserve to be treated much better. They are an undefeated team that works hard, and shows school spirit the best. If you think cheerleading is a sport please email your answer and reason why at acegirl4tribe@gaggle.net thank you.

Try outs are here!
Are you ready to bust a move, yell a cheer, or do the splits? Well, if you are, it’s your lucky day cheerleading try outs are here. There was a total of 38 girls that showed up at the mandatory meeting for 7th grade, and a total of 28 girls for 8th. Clinic week is March 3rd- 7th from 3:00 to 5:30. Then thereThen try outs will be, Saturday March 8th. To be prepared you will need a loud voice, good jumps, sharp motions, splits and at least a standing back handspring. It would be a good idea to go to the after clinic, clinic which is 10 dollars. to start working on your entrance, jumps, and splits, so they will be good for try outs. The important thing is to not get all stressed out about it. You need to pay close attention in clinic and do it full out every time. Remember how you practice is how you perform. So, if you do it full out every time it will improve and you will be the best you can be at try outs. So, get ready, get set, CHEER! "So I won’t wish you good luck, but Good Skill!" (Mrs. Dobbs, 7th grade math)

Did they rock nationals?
Everyone was nervous as the cheerleaders walked on stage for awards, hands were sweaty there was heavy breathing. They couldn’t wait. They knew they would probably get first place but they didn’t know. They had hit clean both days they were in first place the first day with a score of 408. Then the announcer started he got up to second place if he didn’t announce them in second place they were in first. “In second place Wacooche Middle School, So that means in first place with a score of 817 Hewitt Trussville Middle School!” The crowd went wild! They ran up and got there picture made then went to get there jackets. The jackets said CHEERSPORT NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! They were thrilled. The HTMS cheerleaders won the hardest competition of the season! They had also beat Wacooche who had won about six years already! Congratulations to all the HTMS cheerleaders!

Do you think they can rock nationals?
Have you heard the latest news? The HTMS cheerleaders are going to Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia! This is a two day competition, which means they compete twice. Once each day then the second day they hit awards were they hope to get National Champion jackets again! They will leave after school Friday February 15th and will compete on Saturday February 16th at arena A and go on at 9:20 AM. Then they will compete on Sunday February 17th at arena A and go on at 9:13 AM. Since they have won all the competitions they have been to so far they should feel really confident at Cheersport Nationals! They have worked hard and they know they are going to do well! So, wish them luck as they take off to their last competition and will hopefully win Nationals!

HTMS cheerleaders are up and above the competition.
The HTMS cheerleaders have been working hard to be the best school cheerleading team they could possibly be. At practice they run the routine constantly, and then they also use basketball games to practice too. The cheerleaders have won all the competitions they have been to so far.. They have gone to two competitions so far. At Cheersport they beat 4th place North Jefferson, 3rd place Riverchase, 2nd place Brandon Middle School, then in first place Hewitt Trussville Middle School. At Jamfest the cheerleaders got first place. This past Saturday (January 26th) the cheerleaders got 1st place again but, not only 1st but they got Grand champions too! This competition was a big win because they competed all-star not school. Then they hit Cheersport Nationals which are coming up in March. Give your cheerleaders a round of applause for all their hard work.
